O Lord and Master of my life! Take from me the spirit of sloth, faint-heartedness, lust of power, and idle talk. But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love to thy servant. Yea, O Lord and King! Grant me to see my own errors and not to judge my brother; For Thou art blessed unto ages of ages.

Amen

B is for birds, blueberries and St. Bernadette

Our Alphabet Path
Bb week

Cecilia (formally known as Princess) has officially unofficially started Kindergarten!
Yippee for the little learner, how ever unfazed as she is (she still thinks she should be in 'prettyschool')

So as with Rose, we are on our merry path to learning the alphabet under the influences and inspirations of Ms. Elizabeth, Ms. Jessica, Ms. Lacy and all the saints in heaven that kindly have provided me with much needed help.

Bb is for St. Bernadette

B is for books
(lots of them)

I gave Cecilia the chose of topics 'under Bb' that we could read about.  Can you tell what her topic was?

Angelo by David Macaulay
The Bird House by Cynthia Rylant
The Bird Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta
The Owls by Gail Gibbons
Gulls, Gulls, Gulls by Gail Gibbons
Soaring with the Wind by Gail Gibbons
Owl Moon by Jane Yolen
Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey
About Birds: A Guide for Children by Cathryn Sill

Though we went through the letter Bb weeks (and weeks) ago.  But, alas I am slow to post.  We had such a good time with this letter though; and spent some time on it since we started birdwatching for fun over the summer.  It does look I still need to post the picture of our St. Bernadette wooden doll.

Along the Alphabet Path

Letter Aa

We are following little Micheal along his grassy path picking up flowers and letters along the way.  It is a sweet way for young learners to learn their letters.  There are so many "rabbit trails" one can take with the Alphabet Path that it's hard to keep to a letter a week.  So we haven't really stayed tried to stay on track.

There are many books we get from the library and if the book proves to be a keeper then it gets put on a wish list until the funds allow for it's purchase.

Here then is our first stop...
Aa is for apples, St. Anne, apple pie, and ants
Our books to read:

Apple Picking Time
Brother Bartholomew and The Apple Grove
Johnny Appleseed
Life Time of an Apple
Angelina Ballerina
How many apples to make an apple pie
Reading Rainbows Apples DVD

In addition to reading about apples C and V.M made a Johnny Appleseed lapbook using homeschool share free lapbooks templates.

A is for Apples

A is for Apple Blossom
(and a lovely song)

A is for
          alligators, ants, & astronants!!
